Bonner County Dickensheet Rec. Bridge

The project scope consisted of design and construction of six precast prestressed concrete bulb tee bridge sections to span the Priest River for snowmobile and recreational access. The bridge sections are approximately 8 ft. wide, placed side by side, 5.5 ft. tall, and include two 33.5 ft. long sections, two 140 ft. long sections, and two 51.5 ft. long sections. The scope of the project included construction of foundations, reconstruction of existing abutments, placement and anchoring the bridge sections, and improvements to the approaches of the bridge. The project also included furnishing and installation of rip rap, and revegetation of creek banks to reduce erosion during high water events. Once the bridge deck was completed, the guard rail was fabricated and installed. The total cost of the project was approximately $325,000. The project funding was obtained through taxes imposed on snowmobilers through snowmobile vehicle registration, through U. S. Forest Service grants for providing an alternative means of transportation, and through local service and cash donations. Donations and/or grants were made by Bonner County, the Priest Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Priest Lake Groomers Association, and the U. S. Forest Service.
