Schweitzer Mountain Resort - PUD
Schweitzer Mountain Development is located approximately 10 mi. northwest of Sandpoint. Schweitzer Mtn. Development was purchased by Harbor Properties in 1999. Schweitzer Mountain is in the process of updating the Master Plan for the mountain. The last master plan update was completed approximately 10 years ago. Schweitzer Mtn. Development includes approximately 6,000 acres, of which 2,500 acres is dedicated to ski area use.
A portion of the Schweitzer Mountain Development is within a PUD approved by Bonner County.
The current Master Plan update includes reviewing proposed commercial and residential developments for feasibility of construction. JAS has provided detailed analysis of proposed development sites identified by Schweitzer Mountain. JAS is analyzing the proposed locations of developments and providing analysis and critiquing the feasibility of extending utilities and the transportation system to the proposed development locations.
JAS is responsible to review the existing water system, sewer system and transportation network serving the existing developments and developing recommendations for improvements.
JAS is providing preliminary engineering designs for the proposed upgrades and extensions of the water system. JAS has reviewed the existing sewer treatment facility and provided options and recommendations for the future of the sewage treatment system, and we have provided estimated construction costs for the proposed utility improvements.
JAS has reviewed and inventoried the existing roadway transportation network, and we have provided input and provided preliminary engineering designs to overcome some of the initially identified physical constrains presented by the alpine terrain.
JAS is also serving as the coordinator in developing a comprehensive base map for Schweitzer. This includes importing electronic data files of the mountain topography and overlaying various layers of data to develop a map for use in the master planning of the Schweitzer Mountain Development project.
