Town of Metaline Water System Upgrade
James A Sewell & Associates, LLC, has designed the upgrade of the town’s water treatment plant. In 2006, James A Sewell & Associates, LLC, updated the 1999 Feasibility Study, completed the pilot plant study report and completed the Small Water System Management Program Report.
The completed project will continue use of the surface water source and the existing slow sand filtration structure, with some minor change to the internal media of the existing filtration system. This will be followed by a treatment unit comprised of intermediate and final filters. The water will then be chlorinated in a new contact tank. Other aspects of this project will be source water and individual household metering and construction of a new reservoir. Because of escalating construction costs in 2008, the available funds were not sufficient and the town, with James A Sewell & Associates, LLC, assistance, pursued a USDA RD grant/loan for 2009. The town was recently informed that RD will provide funding to complete the project. This project will be going to bid in February-March, 2009.
