City of East Hope Emergency Water System Improvements
The project involves the construction of a water supply diversion structure located on Strong Creek about ¾ of mile northeast of the City of Hope. The proposed diversion structure will be a steel sheet pile impoundment with subsurface water diversion boxes, and ductile iron piping water supply lines connecting to the existing water supply system. Also included in the work will be the demolition and removal of the existing damaged dam and other on-site structures; the reconstruction of a waterline crossing lower Strong Creek, and the placement of rock rip rap. There are also four additive alternatives associated with the proposed project; these include the placement of additional road base material, the replacement of a raw water supply line from the proposed diversion structure to the City of East Hope water treatment facilities, the installation of a sediment removal system, and some vegetation planting for the purpose of stream bank stabilization below the dam site.
